The tournament joins the American and Aussie Opens in utilizing video review systems.
Replay technology will make its debut at Wimbledon for the 2025 edition.
Players are granted the ability to challenge certain rulings from the chair umpire, echoing the system currently in use at each of the American Grand Slam and the Australian Open.
This technology is slated for use on the main stadium and Court One for the duration of the Championships and on the remaining show courts when they are staging singles contests.
This development comes just a year after the All England Club rolled out ELC, which terminated the centuries-old tradition of line judges.
What Can Be Reviewed?
Competitors cannot to challenge the call of the electronic line calling, but are allowed to request the official to review other situations, such as:
- If a ball has double-bounced.
- Whether a ball touched an rival's racket or person during play.
- Possible interference end of a point.
Notably, there is an unlimited number on the amount of reviews a competitor can request.
Practical Application
A recent case took place in a recent tournament recently, where Daniil Medvedev initiated the video challenge against his opponent.
Draper admitted it was a tough situation for the official, but thought his opponent had "used the regulations quite well."
Official Aurelie Tourte watched a video and determined the player was responsible for hindrance, granting the rally to Medvedev.
Growing Trend
This technology aren't new for Grand Slams. The system has been in use at the American major since 2023 and the Aussie Open since 2025.
Furthermore, it is increasingly prevalent on the WTA circuit, and by next season the ATP circuit will have video reviews in place at every one of its events.
Additional Innovations
A further innovation at The Championships this year involves the addition of graphical cues on scoreboards to complement the audio calls from the electronic line calling system.
This solves situations where spectators have occasionally been unsure if a shot was out or in.
In other news, with precisely a century of days remaining until the beginning of the tournament, the AELTC have further revealed an expansion in daily attendance at the qualifying competition in the qualifying venue.
